Sam Smail along with Diana Katardzhieva and Rowan Langdon hand craft Bladen wines.
All grape varieties planted are well-suited to the distinctive climate and soils of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley.
Bladen Wines believe that hands on care given in the vineyard will produce the best quality grapes to make wine with.
Every effort is made to harvest the most flavoursome, clean fruit.
Lifted peach, red apple and gooseberry, with hints of red capsicum and passionfruit. A medium bodied wine that has vibrant acidity and bursting with fruit flavours. These persist on the long, clean finish.
Lifted Turkish delight, rose petal and lychee flavours. A full bodied wine with a rich, oily texture. The lychee and Turkish delight flavours persist on the long finish.
Ripe plum, nutmeg, mocha, and savoury oak char. A medium bodied wine with a supple, velvety tannin structure. The red berry fruits and savoury notes persist on the lengthy finish.
Lifted strawberry and raspberry fruit flavours with creaming soda and melon notes. A medium bodied wine, with a soft, supple texture, aided by a touch of residual sweetness. The fresh berry fruit flavours are carried on the long, clean finish.
A complex array of spiced pear, nougat, toasted almonds and quince paste. A medium bodied wine with soft, creamy texture and plenty of ripe fruit flavours. These persist on the long, full finish.
Lifted lemon and lime, with notes of mandarin pith and aniseed. A medium to light bodied wine, with vibrant, fresh citrus fruit and spice flavours. These flavours persist on the long, clean finish.
