Specifications: Alcohol: 13.5% w/v
Residual Sugar: <1.0 g/L

Viticulture: Bladen Vineyard has a mix of silt, gravels to stony soils. Vines are 8 years old at time of harvest, pruned to 2 short fruiting canes, on standard vertical shoot positioning trellis. Shoot thinned and crop thinned. Hand harvested fruit yielded a low crop of clean fruit with intense varietal character.
Climate: A cool, wet spring and summer was followed by a long, dry autumn. This resulted in lower yields but with intense fruit flavours and ripe tannins.
Soils: Silty loam.Training: Standard vertical trellis.
Harvest Date: 5th April 2007
Tasting Notes: Colour: Deep ruby-garnet
Nose: Lifted dark fruit supporting spicy, charry oak aromas and earthy undertones.
Palate: A medium bodied, elegant styled wine, with a supple, silky texture, lifted morello cherry and plum fruit flavours and a long supple finish.
Cellaring: Careful cellaring for 2-4 years will be rewarded.
Serve: Room temperature with decanting.
Suggested Foods: This wine is particularly well suited to game dishes, braised lamb or hearty casseroles.
Winemaking: The fruit was handpicked, de-stemmed and crushed into a small open top fermenter. Selected yeast strains, a high ferment temperature and regular hand plunging of the cap resulted in a wine of intense colour and flavour. After light pressing the wine was racked to French oak barriques where it was matured for 12 months.
Bottling Date: 20th August, 2008
