Riesling 2010

Grapegrowers: Chris and Dave Macdonald
Location: Conders Bend Road Renwick
Specifications: Alcohol: 12.5% /vol.
Residual Sugar: 7.4 g/L
pH: 2.99
Titratable Acidity: 7.1 g/L
Viticulture:

Climate: The early ripening season was cooler than average, resulting in a late flowering. However, warm dry conditions over budburst and later in the season lead to balanced yields, clean fruit and excellent flavours.

Soils: Silty loam over gravels
Training: Standard vertical trellis, 2 short canes
Tasting Notes:

Colour: Pale straw with green hue
Nose:
Freshly scented citrus fruit and green apple with hints of rose petal and watermelon.

Palate: A lighter bodied wine, with a delicate texture. The subtle citrus and floral flavours linger on the long, crisp acid finish.

Cellaring: This wine can be drunk fresh or cellared up to 5 years

Serve: Lightly chilled
Suggested Foods:
Serve simply as an aperitif or with light seafood dishes, Southeast Asian curries, or crisp green salads.
Winemaking: The grapes were machine harvested in the cool evening to preserve flavour and minimise phenolics. Once settled, the clear juice was cold fermented with a selected aromatic yeast strain to preserve the fruit’s intense aromatic flavours. The ferment was stopped with a small amount of residual sugar by chilling, to balance out the acidity.
Bottling Date: 21st October, 2010
Winemakers: Sam Smail and Peter Jackson
