Keep in formed of the latest news and upcoming developments at Bladen Wines
All Cellar Doors in Marlborough were mystery shopped during October/November to determine the Top 5 contenders for Cellar Door of the Year 2017. All five contenders were Family owned wine producers and the announcement made at Brancott Estate by Wine Marlborough on the evening of the 21st November was that Bladen and Hunters Wines were joint winners. Very exciting news! Made even better by the announcement that Dave was also Joint Winner of the Cellar Door Personality of the Year for 2017, shared with the delightful Kimberly Matthews from Brancott Estate. Very humbling and a great night for Bladen Wines! John Lowes (Chris's brother) was also a nominee for Personality and was a close 2nd.
Bladen Gewurztraminer continues a stellar run of results with the 2017 Gewurztraminer already receiving two GOLD medals. We have decided to acknowledge the huge efforts of Keven and Kerry Tilly by stating 'Tilly Vineyard' on the front label so everyone knows the origin and efforts of our amazing growers. Persistence and dedication by the bucketful! Thank you Keven and Kerry. xxx
We entered 5 wines into this show and were thrilled that all wines received medals, confirming that the 2016 vintage is a cracker! Things started to get exciting when we heard that two of the wines received GOLD medals – the Rosé 2016 and the Gewürztraminer 2016. And then the most thrilling thing happened – both of these wines then received the TROPHY for best in their respective class, Rosé and Gewürztraminer. What a night and an unprecedented result for us. Thanks go to all those involved: Rowan Langdon as winemaker, Keven and Kerry Tilly as most excellent Gewürztraminer growers and Vine First who hand harvested both varieties.
